On Wednesday, December 7th, 2016 in Hurricane, UT- Title I Elementary school cheered on Santa Flight Volunteers delightfully as the volunteers arrived with arms wide open and full of Christmas gifts.
Pilots with the Utah Wing of Angel Flight West filled aircrafts with 7,000 pounds of toys, school supplies, books, backpacks and warm clothing for the students.
Our amazing President Stephen Booth, Harrington and Company Roofing Supply, volunteered alongside with Santa Claus, 16 Boy Scouts as part of their Eagle Scout service project, and local pilots. Stephen was one of the 16 pilots who helped deliver gifts to the elementary school students.
Santa’s big first flight started in 2000 and members of the Utah Wing have come together to help raise supplies and toys for Title I schools in small communities across Utah.
The donations made this year will help over 600 students at Title I elementary school in Hurricane, UT.
Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus made their grand appearance with the help of their trusting elves and arrived in style on a helicopter ride as they greeted all of the students.
Shortly upon arrival, Mr. and Mrs. Claus made a big announcement and said,
“I’ve got a challenge for all of you, for all of your to be really nice to your brothers and sisters, you mom and dads.”
The elementary students were very excited and ended the big celebration with a performance from the elementary school choir.
On top of the donation, the school received $8,000 in cash. Principal Wilstead was overjoyed and couldn’t believe that this was all happening.
“It’s just a reminder of how great people really are. I mean, an $8,000 donation taken up north to a school down south that they don’t even know, probably don’t have a connection to: That’s just awesome.”
